This city, one of the Decapolis towns, was rediscovered in 1818. The Wikipedia ads: "Pella (known in Arabic as Tabaqat Fahl (طبقة فحل)) is a village and the site of ancient ruins in northwestern Jordan. It is half an hour by car from Irbid, in the north of the country."

Although archaeological digs, followed by restoration, started here in 1967 Pella is relatively underdeveloped as a site. The place has been inhabited for some 7000 years, but what you see is younger. The oldest is a Canaanite temple, from around 1650, maybe at an older site. A Basilica is from the 5th century, the place had an Odeon, but most of its stoned have been re-used elsewhere. GPS will show you in the View map mode where I took the pictures.
