Pictures of the Al-Husyni Grand Mosque (and some of the square in its front). I was told it is the oldest in town, and was very impressed, till I read it dates from 1924. Until 1904 the ruins of an older mosque were visible here, which itself dated from 634-644, the reign of the Caliph Omar. It is a pleasant place and I was greeted kindly when looking inside, though some people objected to the taking of pictures. It being hot many people were (trying to) sleep, which is a not unusual sight in hot Islamic areas.
