From the Wikipedia: Paestum was a major ancient Greek city on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea in Magna Graecia (southern Italy). The ruins of Paestum are famous for their three ancient Greek temples in the Doric order, dating from about 600 to 450 BC, which are in a very good state of preservation. The city walls and amphitheatre are largely intact, and the bottom of the walls of many other structures remain, as well as paved roads. The site is open to the public, and there is a modern national museum within it, which also contains the finds from the associated Greek site of Foce del Sele.
I here show pictures, edited from scans of slides that date from the 1980's. They were taken during several visits. At that time the interior of the temples could still be visited. I also show some of the metopes in the museum, as well as some frescos. I suppose things look different now. I am editing thousands of these slides, only afterwards will I add captions. If you have information, please write a comment.
Note that at Other antique cities you can find over 80 galleries of antique cities I visited and took pictures of in Turkey, Syria and Jordan, apart from the Italy ones (a few so far, but growing as I have thousands of slides).
