10 kilometres from Silifke, along the road to Antalya, lies a castle – Liman Kalesi or Harbour Castle - on a peninsula. It looks nice enough, but since this is a military zone you will only see it on one shot, taken from afar, when I was climbing towards the next castle along the same road, a few kilometres further on: Tokmar Kalesi. It may have been one of the crusader castles peppering this part of the country. I could find no further information.
Tokmar Kalesi lies on a rock of its own, facing a higher rock that itself stands to the West of a small village. The view from that high rock is worth your while. There is a road to the castle entrance, where you will find that though it looks strong enough from afar much of its protective walls have been taken down, so the shots from the central space between the former walls show something of a meadow with some ruins at the edges. I have been informed "Tokmar kalesi is Norberd ("New Castle" in Armenian) or Castellum Novum of Armenian medieval sources. It was one of the important fortresses of Armenian kingdom of Cilicia. Sebastos Heri (Henry) was the baron of Norberd in 1198. "
