How I enjoyed Tavşanlı. I went there really because I saw it on the map when in nearby Kütahya, and hadn’t been there before. The one guide that gave a tiny bit of information mentioned a 12th century Seljuk mosque (which when I found it turned out to be so much restored that it might as well have been built some tens of years ago), and rock graves at 15 kilometres distance, which I realized I couldn’t visit on the one day I had. Still, walking its streets the town quickly won my heart, first because of a decent modern region, then a fine park, then came a market, some children were rehearsing ancient folk dances for a school performance, and then there came some good views from another park, a couple of mosques, a neighbourhood with those old houses and disorganized streets that I like, and in the end two mosques with wonderful interiors and even better painting.
