Over the years I have taken so many pictures of this fine mosque that I think it best to put them all in one sub-gallery. From several sources I quote: Ulu Camii or Camii Nur (Mosque of the light?). Built in 1579 by Ibrahim Bey, son of Ramazanoğli Piri Paşa. The entrance gate seems to be characteristic of Memluk architecture (I quote from a guide handed to me in the city, with the usual mixture of sound English and incomprehensible texts like "The worship area has been decorated in the east-west direction with original tiles that holds 14 columns. The mosques inner columns has been connected with a half-pointed arch, called Iran-Arch"). At any rate, its a fine building. From another source I gather there are indications the building may be from an older date, i.e. the 15th century.
You may notice my equipment has improved over the years, yet I find it hard to throw out old pictures. Hence a mixed bag.
