Saraçhane means "saddler". A notice indicates that this mosque was founded by the armorer Mustafa Ağa , and that in the works of a famous traveller, Evliya Çelebi, a mosque by Sinan (the famous architect) is mentioned. It also states that possible there was a mosque by him on the spot, but that does not agree with the foundation stone that mentions a date of 1750. The notice concludes that 1750 should be considered the foundation date of this mosque.
