I put this series here because the entrance to the hotel is in the Meşrutiyet Caddesi.

These pictures are of the Pera Palace Hotel, where staff kindly showed me the oldest elevator in Europe (well, the one in the Eiffel Tower was one step ahead), the room where Agatha Christie used to stay when in town, and lots of other insights in what must be a very comfortable place to stay. I was invited inside after I took a picture of a marvellous DeSoto car in front of the hotel, used to collect guests at the airport. Formerly they would arrive by train, I also show the carrying chair used to bring guests all the way from the station (across the Golden Horn and then uphill, what a struggle).

I liked the stylish website of the hotel. I have been informed in 2014 by a member of the staff that the hotel is now called Pera Palace Hotel Jumeirah, as well as that more pictures can be viewed at a site, not by me, when I checked I found a world I can only dream of, and saw food that I try to avoid as I try to lose some wait. But thanks to the staff for the after care after my first visit.
