Megaron

Megaron Building: This Megaron (building with a porch) was built directly inside the Citadel Wall. Its walls stood still to 1,5 m. It ceased being between 2290-2200 BC. Destroyed by fire, it was notable for a central round heart of 1,2 meter in diameter. The walls were covered with white plaster and the imprint of reed matting was visible on the plastered floor. Finds indicated at least part of it was used for cultic purposes. Other Megara abut on this structure to the north, but they are only partly excavated. Being of a different direction they are taken to represent a later, transitional phase between Troia II and III, with the main gate to the west no longer in use at their time.
