On the web I found: The Church, dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin Mary to the Temple, is the first Greek Orthodox Church built in the Beyoğlu region. It was built by Hacı Komninos Kalfa during the reign of Suladan Selim III, and with the renovations and additions made over time, it became a large basilica with five naves.
It has three entrances: Istiklal Street, Meşrutiyet Street and Hazzopoulos Passage. The church is open for worship and continues to provide services. The Church of Virgin Mary, which is the only church that was not damaged during the events of 6-7 September 1955, was damaged during the bomb attack on the British Consulate nearby on 20 November 2003. After the restoration and repair, it was reopened for worship after the ceremony held on 21 November 2009.
