Şehidiye Medresesi

It is thought to have been built by the Artuqid Sultan Melik Nasreddin Artuk Aslan at the beginning of the 13th century. Many changes, repairs and additions changed the structure. It has a madrasah scheme with a cloister, courtyard and iwan, with a mosque with two naves on the south side. Little has remained of the original state of the madrasah. The destroyed minaret of the building was rebuilt in 1916/17 by the Armenian Architect Serkis Lole in an eclectic style and without a pier. One of the most changed parts is the mosque. The mosque, which seems to have had two transverse naves and a very ornate facade when it was first built, has changed constantly.
