The Crystal Tower is situated to the south of the Sapphire Building. It has 40 floors and 170 meters of height. It has a dramatic silhouette of asymmetrical sloping surfaces. It is the city’s first building to use performance-based design (PBD). Powerful computer programs determine a structure’s realistic behavior in earthquakes and compare that to predetermined performance criteria.
