Diagonally across the roundabout from the Eski Camii is a building that houses the supposed grave of the prophet Daniel (yes, the one of the lion’s den). When I visited in 2005 I did not pay attention, which is a pity because I might have contrasted those pictures with the 2007 ones. Those I took during an extensive excavation. Fragments of the former monument were still standing about (and maybe put back later), and indeed some sort of underground chamber was visible, which was the supposed grave.
