The Süleymaniye (the big mosque at the horizon) has four minarets, placed at the corners of the courtyard, north of the mosque. Two of them have two balconies, the two other have three.
In Süleyman’s day a choir of some 250 muezzins climbed to chant the call to prayer from the ten galleries of the four minarets (25 on each balcony!).
