Mudurnu062007 7399.jpg

The clock tower of Mudurnu.
Unlike most of its fellow clock towers in other Turkish cities, this one is not built from stone, but from wood. The first one, built in 1890-91, burned down in 1900. It was replaced in 1905, burned down again in 1964, and restored once more. The tower is only 12 m high, but its elevated position on a slope near the city’s castle makes it a prominent landmark.
