The Ereğli Municipal Museum is housed in a large three-story ‘konak’ (mansion) built in the late 19th century by Halil Paşa Karamahmutoğlu. The museum collections are both archaeological and ethnographical; it opened in 1998, closed in 2012 for renovation, and opened again in December 2013.
