I wrote "To my horror I did not take pictures of the Gate area (some of the outside), because I was too busy trying to get on the top of the pylons. To my defence I can say it doesn't look like much, but to have been there and not take a picture is silly to say the least." Well, this pictures shows some of the old gate, the opening was bricked up later in Byzantine times as you can see. But it is meagre.
