The head of Heracles-Artagnes-Ares, on the west terrace. The multiple names of the god indicate his syncretic nature: Greek and Persian (Artagnes being derived from the Avestan name Verathragna, a deity ‘giver of Victory’). On the right side of the picture: a horizontal shoulder segment of the statue, with an upper arm and a hand, which was holding a mace.
