On the picture: The northern porch with its double row of pillars. The raised spaces between the tiled wall and the first row of pillars are the ‘son cemaat yeri’.
Most cami (= Friday mosque) have a ‘son cemaat yeri’ (= ‘area for those who came late’), where worshippers who reached the mosque late or at the last moment, will gather and fulfil their prayer duty. This area can be placed under the porch on the north side of the mosque, or in a lobby between the entrance and the prayer hall.
