From Arslantepe mound, 7th period, 3000-2750 BC. These artifacts found collectively in one layer are made of bronze, are arsenic alloyed and some are silver inlaid. Because of the period, their forms, inlays and arsenic alloy give these works a unique place in the archaeological literature.
The text (in 2005) claimed these were the oldest swords ever found, near remains of a palace that also was claimed to be the oldest ever found. This may have changed since.
