I forgot to note who was being honoured here. I have the feeling it was Inönü, (from Enc. Britt: statesman, and collaborator with and successor to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as president of the Turkish Republic. Identified with one-party rule between 1939 and 1946, he later emerged as a champion of democracy). I say so because he looks towards a street that bears his name.
