Kahramanmaraş 058

This is the Arasa Mosque. I took a picture of the placard over the main entrance which gives some details, but translating will take a while. And I will never understand how Turkish "keepers" of monuments dare put ugly plastic notices on spots where they utterly ruin the architects design for an ornate entrance. They seem to have a blind spot for such destruction, which is what it amounts to.

The minaret of Arasa mountain still has a part of a bomb remained from the boombardment done by French army in the Salvation war of the city at 1919-1920 embedded to its body. The main mosque is destroyed at the war, oly entrance and minaret are kept. So they built another mosque by keeping the entrance. However, new mosque is not suitable with the old archtecture in any way.
