Inebolu 0238.jpg

Back to the "old Kastamonu road" again, this is it. I have found that, hidden in the woods, often parallel to new tarmac, and often quite close to it, there are many of these lush roads, that are a joy to walk on. Since they were used for oxen carts they are less steep then the modern roads. They are kept open because local people use them to bring their cattle to grazing grounds. Sometimes the sound from the nearby traffic can be heard, but mainly there is just enough trees and rock in between not to make it bothersome. On some occasions I have decided to head straight for the road from the "old one", then there is a surprising lot of thorns to fight your way through, and every now and again a ravine or a high hill.
