Kaymakli Manastiri Trabzon

Kaymakli Manastiri was an Armenian monastery. It is on the terrain of a farm house at the fringe of the city. The roof being gone it is open to the elements, a pity because there are some good frescoes inside, and the stonework is fine. The monastery was in use until WW I. Two chapels remain, one – dating from 1424 – houses the frescoes, the other is used to store hay.

I found the frescoes very difficult to "read", and was informed this is a typical part of a repressentation of the Last Judgement, the Hetoimasia, the empty chair that indicates the coming Christ.

This is a new edit of a 1993 slide, after I made fresh scans in 2018.

On the top right I can read "Movses" (Moses) in Armenian, thus perhaps the person on the right is Moses. On the left bottom is inscribed "Adam," thus the begging person on the left is Adam. I am having trouble to read rest of them. Do you have more pictures of the inscriptions? Thanks
