In 2024 I found a lot had changed in the old town, mainly due to damage that had occurred when and after between 8 November 2015 and 15 May 2016 large parts of Sur were destroyed in fighting between the Turkish military and the PKK. And in 2023 a 7.8 earthquake had hit the region. So many mosques were closed for restoration. This one had seemingly escaped or had been restored sufficiently. But the terrain near it looked barren.
