Hazinedere mosaic
In 2013 this mosaic found in the village of Sabuncu in the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa was transferred to the museum. It dates from the 6th century AD. A panel depicts human and animal figures. On the corner a big bird gouges the eye out of a man lying on the floor. Behind him there are arms and a shield. The centre of the panel is lacking, on top of it we see a horse and an cart drawn by two oxen. A bear is depicted on the right, elsewhere there is an inscription in Syriac in a tabula ansata (a tablet with dovetail handles. It was a favourite form for votive tablets in Imperial Rome), crowned with a disk.
