Aftuha family mosaic
During the building of a meteorological building in Şanlıurfa’s Martyrdom (Camlik) neighbourhood a single-roomed tombstone in the rocks was discovered, with three arcosolia (arched recesses used as a place of entombment). The floor held a mosaics of the Aftuha family: family members Aftuha, his wife Salum and three children were depicted in colourful and fancy dress in oriental style. Salum sits on the right, Aftuha lies of a sofa, and the children are probably standing, to his left. Their names are written in Syriac near their heads. A Syriac text informs us that Aftuha built this tomb as a house for him and his family for all eternity.
