In a rectangular panel at the entrance of a villa scenes from the life of Achilles are shown. The baby Achilles is seen on the lap of a nanny; then his mother tries to make him immortal by immersing him in the river Styx, but forgetting to wet his heels, where ultimately he will be wounded and killed, then a farewell of Achilles from his mother; next the goddess of fate predicting he’ll die. Then the training by centaur and wise man Chiron, and Thetis watching her son depart to the Trojan war that will be his death. The borders contain scenes of figures playing reeds, farm houses, running, grazing horses, sheep and bull.
