This is the kürsü, a preaching chair used on ordinary occasions. I must say I've rarely seen one used, with modern equipment the imam's voice will get anywhere anyhow (sometimes loud across the whole neighbourhood). That can get funny if he forgets to switch the mike and amplifier off.
