The carpet is of a design that I think uses a motif one can see on very early copperware, later on Iznik tiles, from - I guess - the 15th century or maybe even earlier.
It's a great design. On one hand I think it's a pity we no longer can see the many different carpets that would formerly adorn mosques, and many full-floor carpets are just dull, but this one shines.
