A Chalcolithic settlements dating between 5300-4300 BC was uncovered near the modern village of Gölpınar. It had a well-organized architecture and a life style based on animal husbandry, fishing, hunting and gathering mussels and oysters. It had high-quality pottery and the first example of copper tool use in the region. Dairy was processed, baked clay figurines have no marked mouth.
