Around Germiyan Caddesi a group of ancient konaks (houses for the well-off) is being restored. I see this process in several cities, the first I remember is Eskişehir. In many cases the structures will have a cement interior, that is covered with wood and other materials to give it an "old" feel. In the Kütahya case I saw some had a cement interior, others had, much more "original", wooden beams inside. I can imagine after some weathering an area like this will look "genuine", when more recent I much prefer the real old houses (that people used to be ashamed of when I published pictures, and that often would be destroyed to put modern apartments in their stead). You can see those in the "Old houses" sub-gallery.
