These alabaster heads were sometimes crowned with a hairstyle in another material, and placed in niches.

I took several pictures, and all have a different colour. I am not alone, on Wiki Commons these alabaster heads all have a colour that is heavily influenced by artificial light. I intend to take a better picture, but that will be at another visit.
