Usually stray cats will flee if you approach them. This one didn't, and I think that must have been because he was very, very ill. Maybe the garbage container rought him some unwholesome food, maybe he was ill from other causes. It looked as if he wanted to say "Please let me die in peace here" and maybe that's what he did.
