It was during the last hour of a visit in March that I realized I had always failed to reconnoiter the several side streets in an area I always crossed walking the same street. I learned this was the famous Tahtakale (wooden castle) neighbourhood, but had to hurry to catch my plane. In June I returned and saw some more of it, including the ancient Balkapanı Han, that I liked a lot. The neighbourhood being very photogenic I suppose I’ll return to take some more pictures.
