The Chamber of petitions. Conceived in the 16th century, present appearance 18th century. In this chamber the Sultan would have visiting ambassadors kiss the hem of his dress, though they would address the Grand Vezir in his stead.
The canopy (of leather), a survivor after a fire destroyed the original building. From the reign of Ahmet III and dated 1596.
