Celadin basin. Chinese, first half of 14th century; Ottoman, reign of Murad IV (1623-1640). By attaching a bowl to the neck of the vase, palace craftsmen have converted the Chinese vase into a basin for washing hands. A silver plaque on the base bears the tuğra of Sultan Murad IV and a hallmark.
