North necropolis
Most visitors follow a road leading to the beach, but there is another one to the north, that draws no visitors. It passes a necropolis with 113 graves, used for burials from the 1st to the 3rd century AD. In the Byzantine period some have been reused. An avenue running to the bishop’s palace has been used as a dwelling area from the 4th century, it has residences with large courtyards belonging to noble families, close to burial chambers or even using them in the houses. The notice indicates the avenue took its current form when the city became Christian, in the 5th century.
I took several pictures, of what mainly must have been the residences.
