From another site I gather: also referred to as “Eski Hisar Cami” (Old Castle Mosque) in the records, is located on Yeni Mahalle, on Tahtakale (wooden fortress) Street. It is understood from the Persian epigraph of the mosque that the mosque was built in 1499. Until the first years of the republic, there was a church five meters west of the mosque. However, the church was not preserved.

It is clear from the documents that the street between the mosque and the church was called the Church Street. The mosque, the ground floor of which is a grocery now, is known as “Minaret without Foundation” among the public, since the foundation of its minaret was skilfully concealed into the wall.

I liked the old colour scheme better (see previous).
