Roman amphora’s.
The first original amphora’s in Italy date from the 2nd century BC, often graffiti on them describe the content. During the Republic (around 130 BC) Greco-Italian amphora’s were taken as a model, produced in different regions form Etruria to Southern Italy, they carried wine from Caecube and Fallernia. Lamboglia amphora’s form another group, most probably manufacture was in Apulia (Adriatic Coast of Italy) between the 1st century BC and the 2nd century AD (the text has BC but the Turkish speaks of AD) and spread all around the West Mediterranean to the Black Sea. Towards the end of the 1st century AD Spain became an important producer for amphora’s to transport olive oil, sea foods and wine.
