This and other objects was shown at an exhibition concerning the early days of archaeology in Turkey and what happened to objects found. These are pictures of a stratuette, itself a "crude copy" of a "Modest Aphrodite". Found in 1866 in Ephesus it was first brought to England's British Museum. But later the Turkish govenment complained it had received not a single item from the many finds of those excavations, and the object was handed back in 1870. It is the first instance of such a handing back of an object taken abroad.
