Many of the houses in the Old Town are being renovated, some to an extent that it is actually rebuilding them. I have the strong sense that the techniques used are not those of actual "restoration": they are built in concrete and similar modern materials, and given an old appearance at the outside. I saw this style of restoration at its most amazing in Ankara, the area near the Hacı Bayram-ı Veli.
