Antalya Museum feb 2015 6508.jpg

2012 3047
Septimus Severus, 2nd century AD, Perge. Discovered in 1968 in front of the Monumental Nymphaeum, which was built to honour the Emperor and his family. Legs are missing, the rest was found in four large parts.
The rounded pterygs panels at the border of the armour are decorated with ram and lion heads. A Medusa is at the centre of his armour, two griffons below, at the bottom an eagle with spread wings. His head looks like Zeus’s. The inscription for the dedication, the similarity of his face to that on coins, all confirm this to be Septimus Severus.
