In November 2014 I walked through a valley from Ibrahimpaşa to Ortahisar. This is one of some pictures I took while walking up to the higher ground on which Ortahisar is situated. One passes lots of crumbling (some: rock) houses. I asked people if one can expect these to be restored in time, like what happens in Ibrahimpaşa. They did not expect so: the town earns most of its money from the storing of citrus fruit in the massive underground storage that is dug into the ground. On many spots chimneys protrude from the soil: these are for airing those facilities. Tourism also provides income, but has declined sharply due to the war in Syria, Iraq.
