There are some replica's of erect stones that contain some of the earliest references to a Turkish people.
On the picture: A so-called ‘Bixi’-stele.
Bixi (formerly romanized as Pi-hsi) is a figure from Chinese mythology. One of the nine sons of the Dragon King, he is depicted as a turtle with the neck and head of a dragon. Stone sculptures of Bixi have been used in Chinese culture for centuries as a decorative plinth for commemorative steles and tablets.
They can be found throughout East Asia in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Mongolia (e.g. in the Mongol capital Karakorum) and even the Russian Far East.
