Limyra Ptolemaion 3768.jpg

One of some shots I took from either side of the wall that now runs across the Ptolemaion, a monument built in memory of Ptolemy II in the 3rd century BC. Ptolemy II Philadelphos. From the Wikipedia: "After Alexander the Great ended Persian rule, most of Lycia was ruled by Ptolemy I Soter; his son Ptolemy II Philadelphos supported the Limyrans against the invading Galatians and the inhabitants dedicated a monument, the Ptolemaion, to him in thanks." One can find its sculptures in the Antalya Museum.
