Straight ahead one sees a rather blank wall, with higher up the fresco of the raising of Lazarus. On top is the dome, of which three of four people are visible, that I take to be evangelists.
The apsis is to the right. As for the blankness of the wall, on another website I found that the area was so badly damaged by graffiti that someone must have decided it was better to remove the remaining traces of fresco. I agree that vandals of the worst kind wrote their names all over the church. I have contemplated naming some, as on my pictures sometimes their names can be identified. In one case I found the rather unique name of a man who now shows his
pictures on Facebook, he's the right age for the date of his graffitied name, and I dearly wanted to let him know his past can still haunt him. But he is just one of many ands why hurt him in particular.
