All these pictures I took on my way towards, up or down the Karahisar Kalesi, built on a trachitis rock226 meters high. It was used as a citadel in the Arzava War in 1350 BC by the Hittite Emperor Murşil II and during Hapanuvo, Phrygian, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine times. As Akronium it became a major military base. A place of worship stood at its top dedicated to the major goddess Cybele, there also were 4 cisterns. During the Seljuk ruler Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad the walls of the castle were restored under architect Ulumar Bedrettin Gevhertaş, a palace was constructed at the highest part and a small mosque stood nearby.
