The new mosque was part of a külliye (a complex consisting of a mosque and such other buildings as soup kitchen, hospital, medrese, bathhouse and so forth of which now only the mosque, timekeeping building, library and ablutions fountain remain) erected in 1711 by Abdi Çavuş, son of Hacı Baki. It is made of cut stone, has a large main dome and three smaller ones. The minaret is made of brick. Restorations took place in 1809 and three later occasions.

Some kids were playing here. They went a bit berserk due to my camera. In general I find children may be playful in mosuqes without elders finding this offensive (a wise attitude, I think).
