The Saat Kulesi or Clock Tower, always a proud possession of many a town. This one is very well situated.

The clock tower was built in 1900; the clock itself was imported from Europe.

At the beginning of the 20th century many clock towers were built throughout the Ottoman Empire, as a result of the decree which was sent to the provincial governors to commemorate the 25th anniversary (in 1901) of Sultan Abdülhamid II's ascension to the Ottoman throne.
